Introduction

The Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association (“ALITA“) will be launching the 2025 edition of the State of Legal Innovation in Asia-Pacific (“SOLIA“) Report at TechLaw.Fest 2025 on 10 September 2025.

ALITA is Asia-Pacific’s premier non-profit legal innovation and technology association, launched at TechLaw.Fest 2019 in Singapore. The inaugural SOLIA Report was launched at Stanford CodeX FutureLaw 2019 by the Singapore Academy of Law. This was followed by the 2020 edition of the SOLIA Report, which was launched in conjunction with the Singapore Management University School of Law with an expanded coverage.

“In a year when a certain pesky virus turned the world upside down, how can a conference engage, encapsulate and elaborate upon all of the disruption seen in one year?”

This must have been the key question on the minds of the planners of TechLaw.Fest 2020, as they went about organising Asia’s largest law and technology conference. What followed was a signature conference held with a virtually (pun intended) uniquely signature.

In this article, LawTech.Asia will take our readers on a quick recap of TechLaw.Fest 2020, as we look forward to another exciting edition of TechLaw.Fest in 2021. LawTech.Asia is grateful for our ongoing strategic media partnership with the Singapore Academy of Law (“SAL”), and for the opportunity to be a media partner for TechLaw.Fest once again.

ALITA marks first anniversary

The Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association (ALITA) has marked its first anniversary with a slew of initiatives to further promote the development and implementation of legal tech in the region. These initiatives were announced at the final day of TechLaw.Fest 2020 and include:

  • State of Legal Innovation in Asia-Pacific (SOLIA) Report 2020: The SOLIA Report was first published in 2019 at Stanford University’s Future Law Conference, and then at TechLaw.Fest 2019. Building on these successes, the SOLIA 2020 Report contains several substantive improvements. These include covering new jurisdictions like Brazil, Indonesia and New Zealand, featuring updates from four regional law firms (Clifford Chance, Linklaters, Rajah & Tann and White & Case), and covering the impact that COVID-19 has brought to this sector. Much like a kaleidoscope, the SOLIA 2020 Report was made possible by contributors across APAC, and published in conjunction with the Singapore Management University School of Law, whose academic expertise was instrumental in putting the Report together. The Report may be accessed at https://bit.ly/solia2020.
